Zootopia
Zootopia is a clever, warm-hearted buddy-cop adventure set in a city of talking animals, built around big ideas about bias and believing in yourself. The PG rating is earned: several scenes of predators going feral are genuinely startling, and the mystery plot carries real tension that can catch younger kids off guard.
Confident viewers around 7 and up; sensitive kids may do better waiting until 8 or 9, especially those who startle easily or dislike jump-scare moments.
If you’d rather skip
The film opens with what sounds like a dangerous predator attack, but the camera quickly pulls back to reveal it is a school play with animal children in costume; a good moment to reassure a nervous child before the real tension begins.
A fox cub bullies smaller animals, shoves young Judy to the ground, and claws her across the cheek, leaving visible red scrapes; she fights back and kicks him in the face.
A young Nick is beaten, muzzled, and mocked by fellow scouts he thought were his friends; he sobs and vows never to show vulnerability again; emotionally heavy for sensitive viewers.
