Zog

Book · 2010 · Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler

Zog is a lovably clumsy young dragon working hard at Dragon School, bumping into trees, scorching his own wing, and eventually taking on knights and princesses — all told in jaunty rhyming couplets with Axel Scheffler's warm, expressive illustrations. The slapstick mishaps are played entirely for laughs and every scrape is quickly patched up by a kind friend.

A great lap-read for ages 3 and up, and especially engaging for children around 4–5 who can follow the gentle story arc.
