Young Sherlock
This eight-episode Prime Video origin story follows a rebellious, disgraced 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes navigating a murder conspiracy at Oxford, directed by Guy Ritchie with his signature kinetic, action-heavy style. The series covers Season 1 as a whole and earns its TV-14 rating through frequent fistfighting and gunplay with visible blood, moderate strong language, regular on-screen drinking and smoking, and a brothel scene with adult propositioning.
Comfortably suits teens 14 and up; mature middle-schoolers (12–13) may handle it with a parent alongside.
Episodes to know about
A carriage is ambushed by armed bandits; guns are fired, multiple characters are shot and killed, and a bone audibly snaps during a fight — one of the series' most action-intense sequences.
A dead body is discovered at the episode's end with a knife visibly embedded in the victim's back and a bloody wound briefly shown.
An opening childhood flashback in which Sherlock fails to watch over his sister Beatrice, who then disappears, is a good moment to check in with younger or sensitive viewers about guilt and sibling bonds.
