Winnie the Pooh
This hand-drawn Disney gem is one of the gentlest films ever made for little ones, clocking in at just over an hour with cozy Hundred Acre Wood warmth throughout. The one mild wrinkle is a fantasy sequence imagining a creature called the Backson, which some sensitive toddlers have found unsettling.
A wonderful first movie for children aged 3 and up, with a soft caution for very sensitive tots around the Backson sequence.
If you’d rather skip
Owl misreads Christopher Robin's note and convinces everyone he has been captured by a monster called the Backson; a musical fantasy sequence follows in chalk-on-chalkboard animation that vividly imagines what the creature might do. Some sensitive toddlers have asked parents to skip this part.
Piglet ventures alone into a dark forest convinced the Backson is hunting him; it turns out to be Tigger in disguise and the moment ends in laughter.
Most of the characters fall into the pit they dug to catch the Backson and briefly fear they are stuck forever; resolved quickly and played for comedy.
