Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass
Tom and Jerry stumble onto a magical compass in a museum and get zapped to a mystical version of ancient China, where they must team up to get home while battling a giant power-hungry villain called Mega Rat. The film is rated PG for action/violence and delivers a busier, louder adventure than classic Tom and Jerry, with more intense fantasy peril than the franchise's usual slapstick.
Comfortable for most kids 7 and up; sensitive younger viewers or those who startle easily may need a parent alongside.
If you’d rather skip
Classic Tom and Jerry slapstick: Tom shoots arrows at Jerry, Jerry makes Tom run through a stringed instrument (Tom is comically sliced), and Tom electrocutes Jerry before both land on a fire extinguisher and destroy a museum exhibit.
Tom and Jerry ride a fire extinguisher through a swirling vortex with intense music and lightning flashes, then fly directly toward the open mouth of a dragon; likely the most startling moment for very young viewers.
Loud sustained lightning crashes and dramatic orchestral swells accompany the vortex; abrupt and high-volume.
