The Wild Robot
A beautifully animated DreamWorks film about a robot named Roz who washes ashore on a wild island and raises an orphaned gosling as her own. It is warm and funny at its core, but carries genuine emotional weight around loss, belonging, and parental sacrifice that will move grown-ups just as much as kids.
Most comfortable for ages 7 and up; emotionally sensitive children under 7 may need a parent close by for the sadder and more action-heavy moments.

A violent thunderstorm shipwrecks Roz on a rocky shore; loud thunder and lightning with a damaged pod may startle very young viewers.
Roz is chased by an aggressive grizzly bear named Thorn; the chase ends with Roz accidentally crushing a goose nest, killing the mother and all eggs but one.
Roz discovers the nest she destroyed and lifts a limp wing, finding only one surviving egg; the moment establishes the parental loss that drives the whole story.
