Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi
This 8-episode anime miniseries, which premiered on Disney+ on August 5 2026, follows teenage Kara as she trains with a small fellowship of Jedi-in-training while trying to rescue her captured father from the warlord Nawaam. It carries the same level of action and consequence as the Star Wars films, with recurring lightsaber battles, blaster combat, on-screen character deaths, and some emotionally heavy moments, so it sits firmly in older-kid territory.
Confident Star Wars fans around 10 and up, especially those who enjoy anime-style action; the combat intensity and a mentor's death mid-series make it a stretch for sensitive viewers younger than that.
Episodes to know about
The series opens with Kara's team being pursued and a military assault on a planet's capital, establishing the recurring pattern of blaster battles and lightsaber combat with real casualties.
A major mentor character is killed in a lightsaber duel defending Kara; his death is treated with weight and is a turning point in the story.
Nawaam confronts Kara directly and reveals the full scope of his threat, raising the stakes sharply for the second half of the series.
