Moana
Moana is a joyful, music-filled Disney adventure following a Polynesian chief's daughter who sails beyond the reef to save her people, with a heartfelt message of self-discovery and courage. The PG rating comes from a handful of genuinely scary monster sequences and one tender death scene, but the tone stays warm and empowering throughout.
A great fit for most kids 6 and up; curious 5-year-olds can enjoy it with a grown-up close by for the monster moments.

The origin legend of Maui and Te Kā is narrated with large, dark monster imagery; several children in the story react with tears and screaming, which may prime younger viewers to feel anxious.
Moana attempts to cross the reef alone, is overwhelmed by violent waves, and is shipwrecked; the ocean feels powerful and threatening here.
Tala dies peacefully but on screen; the moment is sad and extended, though her spirit soon returns as a manta ray, which softens the farewell.
