Lost in Starlight
This is Netflix's first Korean animated feature, arriving May 30 2025, and it is a gentle sci-fi romance set in a beautifully drawn 2050 Seoul where an astronaut and a musician fall in love before she leaves for Mars. The emotional weight comes mostly from grief and long-distance longing rather than action or danger, making it a warm but decidedly grown-up love story that sits closer to a K-drama than a children's animated film.
Best enjoyed by tweens and teens who already love emotional romance stories; younger children will likely find the slow, feelings-heavy pace less engaging than it is poignant.

A spaceship explodes on Mars, shown as the event that killed Nan-young's mother when she was a young girl.
Flashbacks show young Nan-young witnessing her mother's final moments and death; these scenes return periodically and are the film's most emotionally heavy content for younger viewers.
Strobing light sequences appear early on and may cause sensory overload for viewers sensitive to flashing imagery.
