Light of the World
This 2D hand-drawn animated film tells the story of Jesus' ministry, miracles, death, and resurrection through the eyes of the young Apostle John, and it hit theaters on September 5, 2025, just as noted. The faith content is front and center throughout, and while most of the violence stays off-screen, the Passion sequence carries genuine emotional weight that may be a lot for the littlest viewers.
Best suited for children 7 and up who are ready to engage with themes of suffering, sacrifice, and death within a faith context; younger kids can enjoy it with a grownup close by to talk through the harder moments.

John walks through a dark alleyway and passes homeless adults and children in visible distress, which may unsettle sensitive young viewers.
John accidentally hits a Roman soldier in the face and is chased; separately, John runs from sword-carrying soldiers and jumps off a building to escape.
Peter cuts off a soldier's ear with a sword (the act is off-screen); Jesus immediately heals the wound.
