Gravity Falls
This report covers the full series (Seasons 1–2, 2012–2016). Gravity Falls follows twin siblings Dipper and Mabel spending a summer with their great-uncle in a quirky Oregon town full of supernatural mysteries; it is genuinely funny and emotionally rich, but it also leans into real horror-comedy with a spooky atmosphere that deepens considerably in Season 2.
Most comfortable for kids 8 and up; sensitive children may want to wait until 9 or 10, especially before the darker Season 2 episodes.
Episodes to know about
Dipper's crush on older teen Wendy becomes a recurring plot thread starting here; played for comedy and awkwardness rather than anything suggestive.
Antagonist Gideon escalates his threats against the family, introducing a persistent villain who can feel menacing to younger viewers.
Bill Cipher's first major appearance; he enters characters' minds and performs disturbing acts including pulling teeth from a deer, with a nightmarish dream-world setting throughout.
