Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This beloved seven-season supernatural drama follows teenage Buffy Summers as she battles vampires, demons, and the darker sides of growing up. This report covers the full series (Seasons 1–7, 1997–2003): while the early seasons are lighter horror-adventure, content escalates significantly in later seasons to include mature romance, an attempted sexual assault, a gun shooting, and deeply heavy grief storylines.
Best suited for teens 13 and up; younger teens may handle Seasons 1–3 with a parent alongside, but Seasons 4–7 carry strong content across nearly every category.
Episodes to know about
Season 1 establishes the show's monster-of-the-week format with vampire attacks, a giant praying mantis teacher, and nightmare imagery; generally the lightest the horror gets across the run.
"Nightmares" episode features a child being buried alive, a clown chasing a child, tarantulas spilling from a textbook, and a teen emerging from her grave as a vampire.
"Surprise" and "Innocence" depict the consequences of Buffy sleeping with Angel and him losing his soul; the shift in his character to cruel villain is abrupt and emotionally brutal.
