Alma's Way: Alma in Oz: The Musical!
This cheerful 27-minute PBS Kids musical special, which premiered July 13, 2026 as part of Alma's Way Season 3, sends Alma and her Bronx friends on a Wizard-of-Oz-inspired adventure inside a story Alma tells her little brother after his tonsil surgery. Everything is warm, tuneful, and age-intentionally gentle, with the only mild tension coming from Junior's worry about losing his dinosaur roar and the quest to find the Rubber Band Wizard.
A confident fit for preschoolers ages 3 and up, especially fans of the regular series.
If you’d rather skip
Junior has just had his tonsils removed and is upset, worrying aloud that he will never be able to roar like a dinosaur again; sensitive children may relate strongly and feel a moment of sadness before the story brightens.
A character is shown being a poor friend; the behavior is acknowledged and corrected, making it a gentle lesson rather than anything distressing.
The special is a lovely conversation-starter about worrying when something feels wrong with your body and how imagination and friends can help you feel better.
